MGM Hotel and Casino, Vegas NV

Grand is an understatement, by far the biggest hotel I have ever stayed in or seen! Everything at this hotel was bigger than life. The hotel opened in 1993, it has four 30 story towers soaring 280 feet and boasts 5,034 guest rooms, including 751 suites. It is simply Huge!

They have 30 check in desks, and every thing is done in large scale. Why did we pick this hotel in Vegas? Good Question! We chose this on advise from other people who have stayed there and on looking at the website I wasn't really sure if this was going to be great BUT we actually really enjoyed the hotel. The Rooms were very big, well appointed, a little dates but still quite modern compared to other American Hotels.

Service in America is FANTASTIC and Australia is way behind when it comes to customer service.

The grand has everything you could ever want from a hotel and we only saw half of it purely because of it's mammoth size!

Dining in Vegas
We had an absolute ball in Vegas, we went to TAO restaurant, a must do the food was AMAZING! http://www.taolasvegas.com/

New Years Eve 2011
We went to http://www.nycnewyears.com/las-vegas-new-years-eve.html The Cat House for New years Eve and it was called "Drink til you Drop" and they mean it! We got SMASHED! be aware though to eat first because they say you get food but you don't, you just get booze and lots of it ! The Cat House is a fantastic venue and the staff are great, ask for Mary, she was a hot lady who looked after us all night, we most of us that made it into the new year that is :)

Hotel MGM by night!

Notes to consider when travelling in America !

1.They do not have refrigerators in hotel rooms, why... because they want you to buy drinks in the bars/casinos, this is where the staff make their money from tips. There is always ice machines on each floor though!Generally drinks and food is extremely cheap so it's all good.
2.MANY hotels in America allow pets IN THE ROOMS!!! To me this is absolutely disgusting and I refused to stay anywhere where pets were permitted. I do not wish to pay for a bed where a dog or cat has pissed thanks very much, but each to their own, just be aware that this is "usual practice" and to check their pet policy before booking!
3. SMOKING in casino's and lobbies and hotel rooms is very common in VEGAS so just be aware of this. I really felt it going from hotel to hotel especially in the casinos. Generally though throughout America, Smokig is banned from public eating and entertainment areas... Hallelujah!
4. If you are a Qantas FF Member, if you choe to fly "first class" with American Airlines which is not much more expensive for the internal flights throughout America, you get priority boarding, 2 abreast in the aisle, wider seats, more leg room and best of all about 60 status credits for each 45 min - 1 hour flight, truly awesome deal !A great way to top up your points or status!

This one table was for non smokers in the whole casino floor, ridiculous !
